Artificial trees – uses in interiors and scenery

An artificial tree can be an interior decoration, a display element or a surround for a practical function. We show how its form can be adapted to a particular space.

Key information

  • A tree can be adapted to the interior height, passageway layout and character of the facility.
  • The trunk can form a surround for a bar, storage compartment or another agreed element.
  • Outdoor use requires agreement on materials, finish and fixing.

Trees are among nature’s most distinctive elements – they bring an atmosphere of calm, cosiness and closeness to nature. Modern technologies make it possible to create realistic counterpartsthat can be used in places where living plants would have no chance of surviving – while serving far more functions than decoration alone.

In this article, we will show what artificial trees can be used for, what they offer practical benefits and which spaces they suit best.

Artificial trees as interior decoration

Artificial trees are used primarily as an interior design element that creates a unique atmosphere. Their use often goes beyond a purely decorative function – they can be the dominant feature of a space, landmark, and even a functional structure.

A tree as a surround for a bar or service point

One popular solution is to create a tree trunk with a recessthat functions as a bar, reception desk or customer service point. From outside it looks like a natural landscape feature, while inside it conceals full functionality: a counter, shelves, electrical wiring or a fridge.

This solution works particularly well in:

  • themed restaurants,
  • hotels with forest or fairytale-style lobbies,
  • amusement parks,
  • play centres and relaxation areas.

Trees in scenery and displays

Artificial trees are also indispensable in scenery – both for theatres and museums. They can be used to create scenes from forests, jungles, fairytales or fantasy worlds.

They work particularly well in:

  • natural history and educational museums,
  • escape rooms and immersive spaces,
  • outdoor film locations,
  • theatre and performance stages.

Tree-shaped storage or seating

Artificial trunks can be designed for practical use. The tree’s interior can function as:

  • a waste bin (discreetly concealed),
  • technical enclosure (e.g. cables, boxes, hydrants),
  • seating or a small table,
  • an information or lighting point.

This means they not only look spectacular but also solve real problems in a space.

Artificial trees outdoors

Unlike living trees, GRP decorations are completely weather-resistant. They need no watering, shed no leaves, suffer no diseases and last for many years.

They work particularly well in:

  • themed gardens,
  • in playgrounds,
  • in recreational areas at hotels and guest houses,
  • urban spaces and parks.

What should be agreed before ordering a tree?

Artificial trees are more than an original decoration – they are a versatile functional and scenic elementthat gives a space character, function and emotion. They work wherever decoration should surprise, create an atmosphere and introduce nature in a durable, modern form.

Frequently asked questions

What are artificial trees made from?

We make the trunk and branches from GRP over a structure, modelling and painting the bark by hand. We select leaves and a crown to suit the space or omit them in more sculptural forms.

Can an artificial tree cover a pillar or column?

Yes, this is one of the most common applications: the trunk covers a structural column, while branches spread beneath the ceiling. Column dimensions and room height are needed for the initial quote.

Are artificial trees suitable for outdoors?

Yes, GRP trunks and branches are weather-resistant. For outdoor trees, anchoring and the choice of UV-resistant leaves are important.
