Working with StoneDeco

How we work:
from conversation to installation.

We do most of the work in our workshop, so we spend little time at your facility. We show what happens at each stage, what we need from you and who is responsible for what.

Starting point

Three ways
to begin.

You do not need to have everything decided. We adapt our approach to the stage your project has reached.

  1. You have a space and an idea

Photographs and a few sentences about the desired effect are enough. We suggest a direction and, if needed, a concept with a 3D visualisation or photomontage.

    How to prepare an enquiry
  2. You have a finished design

We make decorations to an architect's, interior designer's or set designer's concept and prepare it for production.

    For architects
  3. Construction is under way

We join as a main contractor's subcontractor: agreeing interfaces, fixings and the installation window.

Stages of working together

Six stages,
without surprises.

At each stage, it is clear what we need from you and what we produce.

  1. Discussion and materials

You tell us about the location and intended effect. We ask about dimensions, deadline, site conditions and – if defined – budget.

    Your part
Photographs, plan or sketch, planned date
    Stage outcome
    Initial scope and direction
  2. Concept or design review

We prepare a theming concept with a visualisation or translate a finished design into forms, material and element divisions.

    Your part
Feedback on the concept or an architect's design
    Stage outcome
    Form, material and finish
  3. Quotation and schedule

We set out cost, production time, transport, installation and what needs agreeing with other teams.

    Your part
    Approval of scope and deadline
    Stage outcome
    Proposal and work plan
  4. Production in the workshop

We cast textures in silicone moulds, laminate, sculpt transitions and hand-paint. We divide large forms to suit transport and the access route.

    Your part
Information about access to the facility
    Stage outcome
    Finished, painted elements
  5. Transport and installation

We deliver elements using our own transport, install them, conceal joints and refine the colour on site – including at night or in stages.

    Your part
Access to the area, electricity, installation window
    Stage outcome
    Finished space
  6. Handover and aftercare

We provide cleaning guidance. Years later, the decoration can be refreshed, repaired or extended.

    Your part
    Acceptance of the work
    Stage outcome
    Maintenance guidance

Workshop and prefabrication

More work at our workshop.
Less time at your venue.

Rocks, caves and scenery are made in our workshop in Wołów. We bring finished elements to the facility and assemble them on site. The area is out of use for as little time as possible, and dust and noise stay in the workshop. Where the location requires it, we work entirely at the client's site – as at the campsite in the Alps.

  1. 5 dayswork at Suntago after around 4 weeks in the workshop
  2. 1 eveningto install the snow grotto in Istebna, made in one week
  3. 2 nightsto install 80 m² of rocks in a shop in Paris
  4. 3 daysinstalling over 50 metres of rock structures around a Dresden house

How rock is made

From mould
to the colour.

Artificial rock convinces when it looks natural up close. That is why we do not sculpt its surface by eye – we cast it from real stone.

GRP or concrete? Comparing technologies
1. Mould
1. MouldWe take textures from natural rocks and cast them in silicone moulds.
2. GRP and sculpting
2. GRP and sculptingWe join GRP castings into forms and sculpt the transitions.
3. Colour
3. ColourWe hand-paint in layers, with the final lighting in mind.
4. Installation
4. InstallationWe assemble elements on site, conceal joints and refine details.

Scope of work

Who is responsible
for what?

A clear division saves time on site. This is the most common arrangement – we record details in the quotation.

Quotation

What determines
the cost of decoration?

The initial conversation is non-binding. We agree concept development terms individually.

  • Size and depth of the form

Flat wall cladding requires less work than a walk-through cave or a rock with a waterfall.

  • Level of detail

The closer guests view the decoration, the more time we spend on texture and colour.

  • Additional functions

Water, lighting, planters for greenery, access panels for services.

  • Installation conditions

Access to the area, night work or staged work, transport abroad.

Questions
about working together

Ask your own question
How long does a project take?

It depends on scale and how much work can be done in the workshop. We spent approx. 4 weeks preparing the Jungle Quest scenery and worked at the facility for 5 working days. We agree the deadline in the quotation, working backwards from the date the area needs to be ready.

Do you prepare a concept before a quotation?

At the start, we suggest a direction based on photographs and a conversation. We prepare a concept with a 3D visualisation or photomontage when needed for a decision – we agree its terms individually.

Can I see a colour and texture sample?

We discuss the possibility of preparing a sample, its scope and terms for each project. It helps to specify whether it should show colour, texture or a combination with another material.

Do you work in operating facilities?

Yes. Prefabrication keeps installation brief, allowing it to be planned at night, in stages or outside opening hours – as in the Paris shop, where we installed 80 m² of rocks in two nights.

Who is responsible for services within the decoration?

Specialist companies install services. We plan openings, access panels, spaces for lighting fixtures and water overflows in the rock, agreeing these with installers before production.

Do you undertake projects abroad?

Yes – in Germany, France, Switzerland, Ireland and Italy. Our own team handles transport and installation.

Let's begin
with a conversation.

Photographs of the site, approximate dimensions and a few sentences about the desired effect are enough. We will reply with questions and a proposed next step.

Send a finished design or simply an idea.
The initial conversation carries no obligation.
