Rock wall
made to measure

We make rock walls for hotels, pool areas, spas, shops, bathrooms and living rooms. We agree the depth of sculpting, divisions and colour, finish the surface by hand and install the wall on site – usually within a few days.

Where does
a rock wall work well?

Rock can cover an entire wall or a selected section. Behind reception, it creates a distinctive backdrop; beside a pool, it connects the interior with water and planting; in a bathroom, it replaces tiles; and in the garden, it can cover an existing wall.

Hotels, spas and pools – a StoneDeco project

Hotels, spas and pools

Rock cladding for reception, relaxation or pool areas. We adapt the projection of the sculpted surface to passageways, loungers and equipment.

Bathrooms and living rooms – a StoneDeco project

Bathrooms and living rooms

A rock wall beside a washbasin, behind a bath, in a living room or in an alcove. The material does not absorb water, so it also works well in bathrooms.

Garden walls and boundaries – a StoneDeco project

Garden walls and boundaries

Imitation rock on a garden wall or boundary, including with a cascade. We relate the colour and layout to the terrace, facade and plants.

Comparison

3D rock wall
or stone-effect tiles?

Tiles and panels create a repeating pattern on a flat wall. A sculpted rock wall is a single form with depth, shadow and space for lighting.

Production

What do we agree
before making the wall?

A rock wall must suit the interior as well as the services, lighting and the way the room is used.

How we work in the workshop
  • Depth and fixing

We agree how far the sculpted surface should project from the wall and how it will be fixed to masonry or a supporting frame.

  • Sockets, lighting, access panels

We plan openings for lighting, sockets and access to services. Rock can conceal an access panel while keeping it accessible to maintenance staff.

  • Colour under the final lighting

The same stone looks different in daylight and under warm light fittings. We match the colour to conditions in the room.

  • Installation in an operating facility

We prepare the elements in the workshop, so installation is brief. We assembled the Paris shop display in two nights.

Prefabrication

The finished wall
in a few days.

The wall panels are made in the workshop. On site, we join them, conceal the seams and refine the colour – without weeks of refurbishment and dust indoors.

Ordering step by step

How is
a rock wall work well?

From a photograph of the wall to the finished relief – in four steps.

How we work
  1. Photograph and dimensions

Please send a photograph of the wall, dimensions and information about sockets, lighting and services.

  2. Relief and colour

We agree the depth of sculpting, panel divisions and colour – with the room's lighting in mind.

  3. Panels in the workshop

We cast the texture from real rock and paint it by hand in layers.

  4. Wall installation

We fix the panels, conceal the seams and refine the details on site.

Imitation rock on a wall – how does it work?

We make rock walls from GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) panels cast in silicone moulds taken from natural rocks. We join the panels on site, sculpt the seams and paint by hand, so the finished wall looks like one piece of rock rather than repeating tiles. The cladding weighs approx. 6 kg/m² and resists water and UV rays, making it suitable for interiors and outdoor use.

Rock walls in bathrooms and living rooms

At home, a rock wall most often appears behind a bath, beside a washbasin, in a shower or as a backdrop for a fireplace or television in the living room. Sockets, lighting and fittings need to be planned in advance – rock can surround them, but their positions must be known before the form is made. We describe details and examples in our article Rock walls in bathrooms and living rooms.

Rock walls in hotels, spas and beside pools

In commercial facilities, a rock wall creates a first impression: behind reception, in a lobby, pool area or spa. At Le Mont Hotel we made 100 m² of rocks and 20 linear metres of rock planters around the pool. Fast installation also matters in these places – we prepare the elements in our workshop and install them in the hotel over a few days, often in stages.

Rock garden wall

Outdoors, rock cladding can turn a concrete wall, boundary or slope into natural-looking rock, including with a waterfall. In Dortmund a rock wall concealed a steel and timber structure, with a waterfall and pond completing the composition.

What determines the price of a rock wall?

  • Surface area and depth of sculpting – flat cladding requires less work than relief with recesses and ledges.
  • Detail and colour – the closer the wall is viewed, the more time we spend painting transitions and washes.
  • Services – lighting, sockets, access panels, water.
  • Installation – access to the space, work in an operating facility, transport.

How should a wall be prepared for installation?

The substrate should be stable and dry, and services installed before fitting. For bathroom walls, waterproofing is applied before the rock cladding. Before work begins, we send a list of agreed details: dimensions, connection positions, fixing method and the date for starting on site.

Rock wall
– questions and answers

Information before commissioning work.

Ask your own question
How much does a rock wall cost?

The cost depends on the surface area, depth of relief, level of detail and colour, and whether the wall will conceal lighting, sockets or access panels. Flat bathroom cladding is priced differently from a sculpted wall behind a hotel reception desk. We prepare a quote from a photograph of the wall and its dimensions.

Will a rock wall put a load on the structure?

GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) weighs approx. 6 kg/m², less than many tile or natural stone claddings. It can usually be installed on masonry, a board wall or a supporting frame without reinforcement. We agree the fixing method after checking the substrate.

Is a rock wall suitable for a bathroom?

Yes. GRP does not absorb water, and we finish the surface so that it is easy to wash. In a shower, we agree waterproofing, drainage and fitting positions with the bathroom contractor.

How much space does a rock wall take up?

The depth follows the relief design – from a few centimetres for flat cladding to several dozen for deeply sculpted rock. With dimensions and a photograph of the wall, we can establish how much space can be allocated to the decoration.

Can sockets, lighting and access panels be hidden in the rock?

Yes. Their positions and the access required must be agreed before developing the form. Rock can conceal an access panel while allowing maintenance staff to reach it without removing the decoration.

Can the wall be a colour other than grey?

Yes. Colour is part of the design – it can evoke light limestone, warm sandstone, granite or dark volcanic rock. We match it to the room's lighting and other materials.
